Native APIs, language bindings, and Unity integrations across C, C++, Rust, and C#.

Selected work

C API & ecosystem

libVLC

Working on the C media API, language bindings, and community around VLC integrations.

A C API reaches application developers through bindings, documentation, and support in their own stacks.

My work. I contribute to libVLC and bindings across languages, and I created the LibVLC community Discord for users and bindings maintainers. It now has 1,500+ members working across 10+ technical stacks.

This work connects the native API with the ecosystem that makes it usable in different programming languages.

LibVLCSharp

Making libVLC usable from .NET through NuGet packages, APIs, and platform integrations.

Developers need an application-facing API, packages, and guidance to use a native media engine in .NET.

My work. I created LibVLCSharp in early 2018 and maintain its API, platform integrations, samples, and documentation. I also administer the VideoLAN NuGet account: 22 packages with 7M+ downloads.

Before LibVLCSharp, .NET developers used Vlc.DotNet, which ran on Windows only, while VLC’s UWP app relied on a C++/CX binding built for Windows 8.1, Windows Phone, and Xbox. LibVLCSharp was cross-platform from the start. Today, native packages ship per platform and CPU architecture, and managed packages integrate with WPF, WinForms, WinUI, UWP, Avalonia, GTK, Eto, MAUI, Uno, and MonoGame.

C++ & C# integration

VLC for Unity

Bringing VLC playback into Unity through C++ native code and C# components.

Video playback in a game engine has to work with its renderer, native libraries, and platform-specific build constraints.

My work. I maintain VLC for Unity, working across its C++ native integration, C# layer, and the libVLC stack beneath them.

It runs on Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, Android, and UWP, across x86, x64, ARM, and ARM64. The 2026 Linux release supports the Unity Editor and standalone builds on X11 and Wayland, using GLX, EGL, and DMA-BUF texture sharing.

Native plugin framework & local AI

VLCLR

Building a C# Native AOT framework for VLC 4 plugins, with local AI examples for video and translation.

Writing a native VLC plugin means handling module registration, callbacks, ABI details, and lifecycle before a developer can work on the feature itself.

My work. I am building VLCLR to let developers author VLC 4 plugins in C# and publish them as Native AOT libraries. A source generator handles exports, callbacks, configuration, and instance lifecycle.

Runnable examples include YOLOX video object detection, offline subtitle translation, and live speech translation. The framework is experimental and currently targets Windows x64.

Rust & C# integration

Kyber for Unity

Bringing Kyber’s Rust streaming capabilities into Unity through Rust and C#.

A Unity integration needs more than a native plugin: developers also need a reusable C# bridge and ways to build and run demos.

My work. I build Kyber for Unity across its Rust and C# layers, with a test application, CLI, and dashboard.

Those pieces bring the SDK into the workflows Unity developers use to test and integrate streaming.

KyberSharp

Giving .NET developers a strongly typed C# API over the Rust-based Kyber SDK.

Kyber is real-time infrastructure for controlling machines such as robots, drones, vehicles, and remote desktops. Built on VLC and FFmpeg, it targets 8–10 ms end-to-end latency over QUIC. Its native connection, streaming, and input capabilities need an interface that fits how C# applications are built.

My work. I build and maintain KyberSharp, an idiomatic .NET wrapper over the Kyber SDK.

This brings Rust-based capabilities into a C# application-facing API.
